Blog

as part of my site rework (a realm reborn if you will) i've decided to consolidate my major written updates into an actual blog! i miss my tumblr days but having to actually write down my thoughts and feelings into html will be better for my brain than posting for posting's sake. thank you for reading everyone!

operation move from austin to denver is still underway! i've just returned from my first actual trip to denver and i'm deeply excited to get to fully explore and immerse myself when we finally make our way over there permanently (or at least as long as it takes me to get my MA). on the trip i started thinking, for some reason, about the layout of the website and how cluttered it feels; just adding on page after page after page, branching out like roots. i get the feeling that too many roots leads to problems. i can't fully articulate what those problems are since i'm neither a botanist nor a web designer but it has something to do with nutrients, information, and an unpleasant surplus of both.

the solution: four main directories. the home page will basically never be updated now because it never has to be. all updates will be posted here, on my blog! everything i write gets filed under writings, and everything else gets filed under artworks. elegant? no. better? hopefully!

getting my essay out the other week has finally brushed the cobwebs out of my brain; being in a new city, even for just a few days, furiously scrambling to book apartment tours while growing more and more dehydrated, has also really fired me up. i've got ideas for the novel moving forward, and a new essay is germinating. something about time, evolution, culture, archaeology, prehistory... the usual stuff. i've gotta practice for my master's thesis now, i guess!

my recommendations for this week: The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler, a really sick novel my mom told me about, AND, if you've never had the unbelievable pleasure of enjoying this meal before: chicken shawarma smothered in toum.

nothing major to report! i've been hit with a pretty strong creative block so i decided to write down a pure, undiluted expression of my thoughts and feelings. i'll see where it gets me. i've also added a new ish video and made a couple changes to a few pages. finally, i will be working, as time allows, on actually formatting the epubs i included with the short stories. please do not bother with the unformatted versions unless you're just built that way.

what should i do next? more ytps? work on my novel? draw some comics? should i dedicate a portion of this webpage to naked pictures of myself? where should i be? do you want to see me in the woods? should i be posed spread eagle behind a strip mall? should i get into gambling? i've got a little bit saved up, maybe i can send you a bit of what i win! should i start driving north and see what new kinds of gas stations and truck stops there are? i haven't seen a CEFCO in a long time. should i try poetry? how does that work?

as always, thank you very much for reading!

i'm going to grad school in the fall! i still can't believe i've been accepted and i'm going to be moving in four months. of course this means my life is going to become extremely complicated and even more busy but thankfully it will be to a good end! this probably means i will have less and less time to devote to writing. it might also mean i write even more. whatever happens, i will update this site as much as possible, starting with...

novel updates!! the prologue, chapters 1-3, and a sneak peek at chapter 4 of With Each Footfall Killing are now ready for you to look at the words of them. give it a read and let me know what you think.

thank you to everyone who has read my stuff and supported me!!! hopefully my next update will be from a new city in a new state and in a new phase of my life. cheers!!

12/12/2025: I Got Published!

my short story trespassers was published by Luna Station Quarterly this month!!! i got paid $10!!! this is my first ever publication and i'm super excited and proud. i'll throw a link to the lsq december issue here.

in other news i've gotten some feedback on the longer fiction i've been working on and tried to kill two birds with one stone by writing more and dividing what i had into two chapters. let me know what you think! i love you
